Just as the internet has revolutionized and impacted many industries over the past decade, the auctioneering industry has also harnessed internet-related technologies to make the bidding process run more smooth for bidders, sellers, and auctioneers alike. To learn more about how bidding works in an online auction, read this article:
In an online auction, items are listed on an easily navigable page or set of pages. This is helpful for prospective bidders who are looking specifically for jewelry, used electronics, collectors’ coins, or works of art. The list of items is available for a predetermined period of time and all items are considered sold when the bidding period closes.
Before bidding in an online auction, a participant is encouraged to do his or her own research of the item on which he or she is interested. This increases the chances that a bidder will be happy with the item he or she collects at the end of the auction.
It is standard for items in an online auction to have a minimum starting bid, below which no auction participants can even place bids. On some items, a seller has the option to initiate a reserve price under which he or she reserves the right to refrain from selling the item. When this practice is permitted, the reserve price does not have to be disclosed.
One of the greatest advantages of online bidding for the prospective buyer can be found in the auto bidding feature. With auto bidding, you can assess the value of an item and place a bid in the maximum amount you would be willing to pay for that item. Each time someone outbids you, your bid will increase until it hits your maximum. If nobody else bids close to that maximum, then you can get the item for much less.
Would you like free access to auto-bid online auctions with exceptional selections of merchandise? Register with FBA Auctions online or call (888) 691-0614 to find out more about our items for sale and how you can make them yours.

Even though many items sold in online auctions are accompanied by certificates of authenticity, the information that a seller provides in an item description can further confirm the legitimacy of a piece of jewelry or sports memorabilia. Read this article to learn more about how items sold through a National Auctioneers Association online auctioneer are authenticated:
The certificate of authenticity
Certificates of authenticity give many buyers a considerable degree of comfort. For some prospective bidders in an auction, however, a certificate of authenticity is not assurance enough that the watch, necklace, or landscape portrait they are bidding on is genuine, which is why many auctioneers use several other methods to validate merchandise.
Serial or reference number
Designer watches and luxury electronics are often marked with a serial number, a reference number, or both. If such a number is included with the item you are bidding on, then you may be able to validate the item’s authenticity with the manufacturer.
Hidden labels
Designer bags and other merchandise are sometimes sold with hidden labels that are not found on counterfeit pieces. Mention of these hidden labels is a way for an online seller to authenticate a product.
Stamps or other markings
In addition to serial numbers and hidden labels, luxury goods and handcrafted antiques are often stamped, engraved, or otherwise marked with some sort of signature that cannot be replicated. Sellers typically include any information about such markings in the item descriptions.
It is unusual for an item to be sold in an online auction without a reliable record of authenticity or proof of history or value. For access to authentic and valuable goods from a member of the National Auctioneers Association, register to participate in FBA Auctions today. In this video, the speaker discusses taking care of diamond jewelry. It is very important to take care of your jewelry and clean it regularly. Cleaning your jewelry will help lift the dirt from your jewelry and help keep everything clean and clear. He also suggests that diamond-owners inspect their jewelry on a regular basis. That way they can either clean it or catch loose gemstones before they become an issue.
